Fall Foliage Train Excursion
The Harrison Coal & Reclamation Historical Park and the Dennison Railroad Museum in co-operation with the Ohio Central Railroad, is sponsoring a fall foliage train excursion October 17, 2004 from Dennison, Ohio- Morgan Run(Coshocton area).
The excursion will depart at 1pm from the Dennison Depot Railroad Museum 400 center street Dennison, Ohio and return around 5pm. The excursion will be steam one way. Passengers will have the opportunity to depart from the train for a photo run-by session. The photo run-by session is a great opportunity to photo and film the train that is not available on most train excursions. A tour of Ohio Central's locomotive repair shop is included in the schedule. The shop tour is a great chance to see Ohio Central railroad's steam locomotives and a number of the company's diesel locomotives.
The train excursion will help support the Dennison Railroad Museum and Harrison Coal & Reclamation Historical Park, a Ohio coal & surface mining museum project. The Harrison Coal & Reclamation Historical Park's mission is to acquire The Silver Spade, a 105 cubic-yard Bucyrus-Erie 1950-B stripping shovel when retired from service and preserve Ohio & surrounding region's surface mining heritage. The organization was donated a Marion 7200 walking dragline. The excursion will help with preservation & relocation costs of the Marion 7200 and the Dennison Railroad Museum. The Dennison Railroad Museum is a restored Pennsylvania Railroad Depot. The museum includes two steam locomotives, vintage passenger cars, and examples of rolling stock located outside the depot on the east and west ends.
Tickets for the excursion is $55.00 for adults and $41.00 for children 12 and under. Fall foliage, shop tour, and photo run-by excursions, sell out quick. Tickets for the trip are still available. Come early for lunch at Pennsy Dinning located inside the depot. Visit the railroad museum, museum shops for railroad gifts, ice cream and candy.
