Posted by Craig Thanks for letting me know what you think and how you feel. Everyone wants to belong somewhere and to be part of something. An 'organization' [like 'straight edge'] is like a 'family'. Everyone has their 'place' and feels important because they are surrounded by others who think and feel the same way [for the most part] as they do. No doubt - that's a good feeling. As a person who belongs to 'straight edge' - I'm sure you know what I mean. I'm also sure that you WILL be able to appreciate [and understand] what I'm about to say. The kids that you [and your 'organization'] are bullying are no different than you. They have the same need to feel as though they belong somewhere. They are JUST as afraid of the world and what's going on around them as YOU are. [and most of us are] The only difference between a bully and a victim of a bully is that the bully deals with his fears by attacking FIRST. The belief is that IF I attack FIRST - no one will attack ME. In other words - IF I am 'the bully' - I won't be a victim OF a 'bully'. The 'attack first' philosophy is VERY human. People do it all the time. [though usually verbally and not physically] IF you have the courage to back up a bit and take a bigger look at your life [and at what your DOING to others] I'm sure you'll see that WHAT you are doing really isn't the right thing to do. Even IF you are unaware of it [right now] YOU are in a VERY powerful position. YOU understand what it feels like to BE a victim. You should USE that 'understanding' to HELP others instead of attacking them. Like it says on my homepage [and at the bottom of this message board] "It takes FAR MORE COURAGE to be KIND than it does to be CRUEL." Do you HAVE that much courage?? Take care of yourself, Andrew, and be the 'nice guy' your supposed to be. GREAT BIG HUG
