Posted by ThunderWolf Unfortunately, I didn't find out how true your words are until my last year of high school. That lesson served me well as an adult however. Not that there are a lot of adult bullies, but they are out there. And when you get caught up in drug addiction you manage to come across some pretty unsavory characters who think they can get whatever they want from you just by demanding it.(At the time I was tall but rail thin.) Fortunately, I had the nerve to stand up to them and not be bullied. They were usually pretty big guys, but they admired my courage to stand up to them and left me alone. On one occasion I was at a bar with a bad-a** lesbian b*tch. (Nothing against lesbians. We were friends, and that description would make her happy.) Anyway, I knew she had sticky fingers. So when my zippo lighter ended up disappearing I asked her about it. She denied taking it, but I persisted. Anyone else calling her a liar would've felt the sharp edge of her knife, but she knew I knew that, and, again, out of respect for my having the nerve to stand up to her she simply gave back my lighter. I admit, those were not situations the average person would get into, but it just goes to show, that if you have the courage to stand up for yourself, you'll end up getting left alone.
