Please be as open and as honest as you can be!! :o)
Posted by Craig I'm truly sorry to hear of your horrible experience. But as horrible as it was - what happened TO YOU - did NOT change who you are as a person. It may have effected how you feel about life and how you react to others [as indeed it did] but it did NOT effect - in any way whatsoever - YOUR value as a person. You are just as important and just as special NOW as you were BEFORE all of those horrible things happened. Victims of abuse often believe that THEY are [somehow] responsible for what happened TO them. This is especially true for guys. There is this goofy idea that a 'real guy' would have, should have or COULD have done something to avoid being abused. But that's just silly. A victim of abuse is just that - a victim. You are no more responsible for what happened TO YOU then you would be if you were hit by a falling tree while sleeping on a park bench. IF I told you that 25 years ago I was forced by some jocks to do exactly what YOU were forced to do - what advice would you give ME? Sometimes it helps to 'third person' a situation. In other words - pretend that someone ELSE [with exactly the same problem WE have] is asking for OUR advice. That said - what advice would you give ME - if I was the one who wrote your message? This may seem like a stupid idea - at first - but try it. See what response you come up with. I hope to hear from you soon. GREAT BIG HUG
