Thanks for the note. I just received an email from Kenny Harris regarding a book he is working on about Edgar. I will send him what I have. The last time I saw the cemetery it was VERY overgrown with briars and small trees. I know that Kenny and everyone has done a great job of getting it up to snuff. My dad wants to go by and see it again (this time without his chain saw!).
I'd love to hear about any Burroughs family events like the family honor ceremony. I have four little kids now so getting out can be difficult, and my genealogy research has suffered a bit as a result. Nevertheless, I love the fact that we have been able to bring our family back together after so many years. Bruce Burroughs is a docent at Fort Monroe in Hampton. He is our cousin too. I have not met him but have cooresponded with him by email. He descends from Elzy's brother John, as I descend from Elzy's other brother William. Brother John's son John Jr. was a big Union sympathizer during the War, so I'm not sure how Bruce and Kenny would get along (Ha!). Together, we constitute the only known descendent branches of our Burroughs family in southeastern Virginia.
I know that you grow strawberries. Are you a part of the big Pungo Strawberry Festival? Is there a good time to visit your area? I'd love to meet up sometime.
