Posted by Kevin Burroughs I have now traced my family back to a Benjamin Burroughs B abt 1769 (but not sure where). He was buried in Mattishall Burgh, Norfolk in 1836 aged 67. Benjamin's first wife was a Zipporah (or Tipporah) Edwards and they had 6 daughters: Maria Perkins (b 1795), Elizabeth Burroughs (b 1798), Ann Burroughs (b 1801), Mary Burroughs (b1805) and twins Zipporah (or Tipporah) and Hannah Burroughs (b 1808). I'm looking for any details of their husbands and families. Benjamin's second wife was Anne Thayne and would like further details of their daughter's family. Ellen Burroughs (b 1814) married Charles Fitt (b1812). It is thought Benjamin's father was a Stephen Burroughs who died in 1792 at the age of 72, but this link is very tenuous. Stephen's wife was an Elizabeth and they had at least one child, a daughter also called Elizabeth (b 1764). From a recent DNA test for the Burroughs name, it is thought there is a distant Suffolk link to the Rev George Burroughs of Salem witch trial fame.
