Dear Burroughs Family Researchers: My wife is Carole Burroughs McNeel from Norfolk; she is a member os DAR, Jamestown Society, Colonial Dames, etc, but we have nnot been able to trace her Burroughs line. We would like to correspond with other researchers for help.
Carole's Great Grandfather was James Borroughs/Burroughs who lived in Princess Ann Co and died in the Norfolk area abt 1890. He m. Frances "Fannie" Shirley (abt 1833 to 1903)and they are both buried in P.A. County (somewhere). James and Frances had a son, Charles Evans Burroughs (abt 1864 - 1935) who m. Nancy Pearce Hughes in abt 1890; they had 9 children in the P.A. Co/ Norfolk area. Nancy was the dau of thos Witt Hughes (1839 - 1902).
The P. A. Co Census of 1850 shows James and Frances B. living with son Charles near another Borroughs/Burroughs Family. I do not have the name (perhaps a brother with young children) at the moment.
