Margaret Burroughs, b c 1814/5, unmarried 6.Shepherd Burroughs, unmarried As far as I know, none of these folks ever moved to Matthews County, Virginia. Records that I have been able to uncover show they lived and died in Stafford County. The area of Stafford where they lived is now part of Quantico Marine Base. Most marked graves in the area were moved in 1943 to Cedar Run Cemetary at Sowega, Virginia, which is maintained by the Marine Corps. There are no Burroughs graves at Cedar Run. I found one reference that states that William K, Elzy, John Henry, and Travy are the children of Basil Burroughs and Margaret Riley. Some of the family also lived in Fauquier Co, Va which borders Stafford on the west, and there is a John in St. Mary's Co, MD in the 1600's, which is directly east of Stafford across the Potomac River. The point of all this rambling is to say that I know that my John is not the father of the ones in Matthews, but I have not been able to accurately trace his line BACK any further. Would appreciate any and all help! Jane
