Yes, the majority of buses in the Dublin Bus fleet were (and still are) bodied by Alexanders in Belfast (Mallusk) and Wrightbus in Ballymena - both bodybuilders build their own bodies on different makes of chassis, mainly Volvo chassies and sell them on as complete buses - 90% or thereabouts of Dublin Bus's fleet are Alexander (Belfast) bodied buses. The Bombardiers / GAC's were built in SHANNON, CO. CLARE up until 1986 and this was the last bus plant in the Republic to date.
