For many times, we have the need of converting videos to play on some other particular devices or edit them in the professional video editing applications. Fortunately, Mac OS X El Capitan and Yosemite offers many ways to do the conversion work conveniently and quickly. Let’s have a look.
1. Finder
Yeah, I know. Finder is not only a file manager, but also a video encoder. You can finish the video conversion in Finder just by few clicks.
Right click the video file you want to convert and select “Encode Selected Video Files”.
The “Encode Media” window will pop up. You can set few parameters of video in this window. When you’re ready, click “Continue” to choose the path you want to save converted videos. Then Finder will start to convert videos for you.
2. QuickTime
As usual, we think QuickTime is just a media player. Playing videos is the major function of QuickTime. It hides another great function – encoding videos in the top menu bar.
First, select a video to play in QuickTime and press “Pause”. Click “File” and move to “Export to”. A submenu will pop up to let you choose the option you need. The picture below takes “iTunes” for an example.
You can choose the device you want to convert to. Then a window pop up to ask you where you want to save converted video. You also can set the resolution in this window.
