Prospecting to help revive economy

The National Geophysical Prospecting Team in Hamhung City, South Hamgyong Province, which was established in 1957, has undertaken many of tough prospecting projects for more than 40 years, contributing tremendously to the development of the national economy.
Some members of the team won the titles of DPRK Labour Hero and Merited Prospector for their distinguished services in important geophysical surveys including a survey for drawing a map on a scale of 1:50,000.
In recent years, it carried out several surveys for the future purpose in various sectors to fix the sites for detailed prospecting.
It is also re-estimating deposits of minerals in major fields.
The team succeeded in properly estimating the deposit of high-grade ore in the Komdok area, where one of the nation's largest mineral ore producer is, and surveying a coal reserve in the Anju area.
Exploring for virgin areas is going full steam ahead.
The team has employed advanced prospecting methods and manufactured new apparatuses, some 20 of which have been awarded state patents for their high workability.
It has developed over 50 digitalized prospecting facilities which are widely used by the provincial prospecting teams.
The team is staffed with geologists, electronic engineers and computer experts, who are devoting their soul and energy to bringing about prosperity to the country.
