The office of a prophet I would think would be one to warn the church or individuals of pending danger or blessing and give us information about something we may have to undergo in the near future and having this knowledge could keep us at that time. A prophet could perhaps steer the church in a general godly direction. I just heard a preacher talking about how God has set America up with wealth for this end time move of God...it was a great sermon. He was almost speaking propheticly, it was giving the church direction.......as opposed to say David Wilkerson who said long ago (prophetically, supposed) hold back do not finance a church at this time.
