Traci... all what you have said im your searching the Word on prophecy, is pretty much Vineyards stand on prophecy. I understand it. And I see how the diff is for the local church verses a WHOLE nation. I totlayy agree with the way one can have discenment or knowledge, and bring insight to an inividaul w/o it being in the 'form of 'prophecy' However... I still struggle with the 'term' prophecy, in relation to its use as a common word of encouragment. Is this a sematicla thing for me???? Yet, alot of stuff given in the 'name of the 'prophetic' is common sense. Stuff a non spiritual person can tell ya. no brain surgewry there... I know when I first was used in DETAIL about an individual,,.I wrote it down, and gave it to my good friend to help me have it weighed, and see if it came to pass...this we did several times with other things I felt were from the Lord... these were words that included loss and new life...thus the reason I WROTE them down. Also there was a year time frame on it... When the time was right, these were shared with the individual to confirm to them that God was indeed real working in their life, when they thought all hope was lost...at the time I believe the individual was not saved even..another reason I wrote it down... .. I have moved in the prohetic somewhat...and I KNOW when my 'own' thoughts get mixed up in them. I have given specifics..but only in the local church setting. sometimes in prayer meetings, but I have tried to be very careful when praying over anyone and having that anointing come over me. I recognize it, but I do not want to ever be guilty of speaking over ANYONE and saying to them something that is not the heart of God. Sure there are 'safe' words you can give. I am always amazed when I have given specifics, how it bore witness with the individual, as also I am fearful of being seen as one that is a Prophet, as I am NOT. I don't know. I still tend to be old school in the use of prophcey. Maybe I need to move on and get over it. See what I mean??? I too have seen the use of the prophetic quote unquote, that was very genric and have been prophecied over... God used the one to confirm His call in my life for worship...regarding music qnd dance..which incidentally was done by Steve Blanchard..who did not know me from EVE. I had never met him, Gibbers..(Greg Gibson) introduced me to him when I visisted one time...he jsut prayed over me, and then gave this word..it was rather amazing.. Another one...a gal told me I would minister to the nations. well. that did not bear witness with me AT All...Granted I live in Az with the culure we have..but really we are ALL called ministers of righteousness and are to make disciples of all men... ps at my wedding to Rick..I did prophecy.. YOu O my son Rick will buy everything for your wife that she wants... that came to pass HA! ok. that's all...
