Posted by Traci I feel safe encouraging anyone on this board to do these things because you have all been walking with God so long, that for you to do anything really out of line would be rare. Telling you all to be careful with this is almost like telling a Baptist to be careful - that is part of their religion But, it is always a good idea to have a mature Christian around when practicing prophecy (I might comment more on this later at Joel's request). However, if you are speaking to someone about their life, you will usually know pretty quick if you are on or off - whether the person spoken to is a Christian or not. They will respond in a way that lets you know they are confused or affected. If what you have to say is meaningful, spoken well, is not weird and lines up with the heart of God and the Word of God, you can hardly miss. Those who will miss, will be new Christians - or those in it for selfish reasons (anger, insecurity, pride, etc). I don't recommend that new Christians practice prophesying. Even if - and maybe especially if - they are "spiritual" people and know how to get in touch with the spiritual realm - meaning from the new age arena or a medium. I also have to say that I always make a disclaimer with myself or anyone I minister with. (And someone else on the board already rehearsed these well Hey, about offending me - no worries! One of the reasons I am here is to test my life and thoughts! You all are not afraid to tell me what you think or if I need to jump in a lake! Thank you!! Trace

I totally see what you mean about the danger Lita. It is a very real one. ![]()
The word of God is always supreme and prophecy never supercedes it. We are fallible and can make mistakes. And that people should never make major decisions on a one time prophecy. God will always give confirmation in many ways about major decisions and life changes.
