Posted by Traci In other words, I wasn't questioning the actual value, I was looking for exactly what you two (and expecially Helen, more detailed) answered. Trying to follow the thread, I couldn't find where my life could somehow be affected with the discussion - that is why I asked. And now it is! Sometimes people do actually get into debates for the debate sake. . . But I did some study on angels also and it has really affected me personally. It was in Dan 10 where Daniel gets a dream, prays for 21 days, Gabriel comes and says things to him. Some of these things have greatly encouraged me, but indirectly. If you read it in Rotherham, you really get a sense that Gabriel came right away, but was then opposed by the prince of Persia - in almost a militant way! Then Michael came to help him. Gabriel left Michael there to stand against the Prince of Persia while he (gabe) gave revelation to Daniel. One of the most interesting things that Gabriel says is, "There was none that would stand with me in these things save Michael, your prince." (by the way, Michael is also our prince since our names are written in the book! Dan 12 It still isn't clear to me whether "these things" has to do with taking a stand to defend and protect Darius or if "these things" has to do with giving revelation to Daniel. Either way it indicates that angels have a choice in things and that if they decide not to do some things that we might say would be a good decision, it is not a sin. If it were, then the only two angels that would be left would be Gabriel and Daniel. So, by inference, it seems that even in the heavenly realm, there will be (and are) choices. That also seems to mean that sometimes I also have choices to do a hard thing or not. If I choose not to do it, even if it seems to support God's purposes, it might not be a sin - it is simply a choice. Why would angels not want to support Gabriel? It is amazing to me, regardless of the "things" that there was only one who would. Were they at some sort of risk? What would be difficult for them? These are all interesting questions. I can't answer them all, but this study gives angels a little more "personality" than I had been willing to give them. They have wills, they worship, they can sin and make decisions. It therefore gives my future a little more "personality" than I had believed also. This was just one more study that helped me to see that there will be a lot more in the heavenly realm and in the coming age than just worship or obedience. Thanks for all your study and I truly respect it. I have had seasons in my life where I did a lot of study and I know how much time it takes. None of it will be lost. But only if you look at it that way. I think that was the point. No truth is helpful if you don't apply it to something. All truth is valuable if applied. For example: Blessings to both of you!!! My question was actually for . . . hmmmmmm . . . stimulation might be a good word. Would rhetorical be good? ![]()
I said that Zeruiah ate 100s of dinners - let's get a little more base - Jesus had to visit the bathroom. So what? Well, that means that no matter who you are, you still need to take care of mundane needs. All have sinned and there is an exception to this - Jesus. But even he could not escape the privy! (and many other mundane chores) So, as base as this truth is, it sure encouraged me while I had 4 kids in diapers!
