They go to far-end regions of the world where the Scriptures have never been translated into the native language and they learn the dialect of the local people and begin translating the scriptures into the target language. They also win souls to the Lord and most often need a skill (like farming) to provide for themselves and often teach that to the local tribe as well. And Joel, you'll like this, they have to home-school their kids. Our church supports some in Papua, New Guinea and they are absolutely amazing. A question to toss out to you guys is what then is the difference between a missionary and an apostle? Is it just that one establishes a church and the other does not?

I guess naming apostles or prophets would again depend on how one defines the words. "Apostle" comes from a Greek word meaning 'messenger' or 'envoy' and comes from a root meaning 'to send away from'.
