Like Paul told Timothy, a pastor, to 'do the work of an evangelist', I think many may do the work of other offices without holding those offices. In much the same way I think DB was a teacher who did the work of a pastor and even an apostle (planting other works), but he was never really anointed by God as either. I also apply the principles of judging prophets and prophecy from the scriptures. Many who I've heard referred to by these titles fail on this. Someone who is sent out from a ministry and labeled a 'missionary', a rough translation of the word 'apostle', does not necessarily fit the Biblical definition of that ministry, or the ministry described (by example) for that office in the scriptures. Many of those may have other gift offices such as pastor, teacher, evangelist, helps, etc. My assessment, not knowing the mind of God in the matter, is to err on the safe side and not exult them into a position that I don't know if God has given them. That being said, I have never met anyone or followed the ministry of anyone (from published accounts) who is ministering today who I think holds those offices. That doesn't mean they aren't there. It just means I don't know of them. But then again, I'm not a 'ministry groupie' who follows such things closely.

The big problem with labeling someone with one of these titles is that we don't know the mind of God in the matter. We could label someone a tree, but that doesn't make them one. Nor does calling themselves one make them one.
