Great observation, Joel. It is a good one and true. Another thing Jesus said is that he would be our comforter. But God had already said that he would give us boldness: Prov, 28:1, Josh 1:6-76 "Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers to give them. 7 Be strong and very courageous. 2 Sam 2:6-7 Now then, be strong and brave, for Saul your master is dead, and the house of Judah has anointed me king over them." 1 Chron 22:13 Then you will have success if you are careful to observe the decrees and laws that the LORD gave Moses for Israel. Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged. Comfort: Ps 23, Ps 71 and others and the disciples had already been given authority over spirits and power to heal: Mt 10:1, Mk 6:7 and many had already died for their faith: Hebrews 11 Since there are examples of all of these things before the HS, why did Jesus command it?
