Posted by Theophilus In the OT Moses said… Oh that all God’s people were prophets and that He would put His Spirit upon them. In the New Testament God did just that, meaning that the anointing of the Spirit is available to as many as the Lord our God shall call. There is no glass ceiling for NT saints… we can draw as near to God was we want and be as filled with the Spirit as we want… because God wants us to be filled with all the fullness of God. Before the Holy Spirit was given on the day of Pentecost, none of those who were filled or empowered by the Holy Spirit spoke in tongues, at least as far as what the Bible says. Some have tried to make a case for the prophetic utterances that are mentioned in the OT to have actually been another way of describing speaking in tongues… as when Saul prophesied and was considered to be among the prophets. Personally I see no reason why this could not be a possibility… except that the Hebrew word for prophecy is not directly associated with speaking in tongues. ~ Sid![]()

Whereas in the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit came on certain individuals - prophets, priests, kings... in the New Testament the Holy Spirit was poured out upon all flesh. Men and women, sons and daughters, slave and free... it does not matter because God is not a respecter of persons and is preparing a Body to dwell in forever.
