Man obviously has freedom of choice, but the fact that we are still all accountable to God, shows how limited the sphere of choice is. This is where Calvinism and Reform theology gets bogged down and does not understand the Scripture rightly. The kingdoms and empires of past ages were all ruled by kings, i.e. Sovereigns. And these rulers held absolute power and authority over all their subjects – who lived by his law and rule. Even so, that did not mean that everyone who lived under this kind of dominion obeyed the king. The people lived within a limited sphere of choice, they could obey the king, or they could take their chances and live however they saw fit and were able. Both ways, both choices do not deny the sovereignty of the king; he still had absolute authority over his subjects… The only question for his subjects, are did they live under his rule, obeying his laws, OR did they break his laws and live as a rebel in his kingdom? We have this same choice today. We can either acknowledge God’s Sovereignty and live in submission to His Will, OR we can live however we see fit and take our chances. Unfortunately for those who choose to live as they see fit… they are still accountable to God and someday will be judged according to their works. So, I believe in God’s Sovereignty and I believe man’s limited Freedom of choice. I do not believe in Man’s total free will, because that would make us unaccountable to God and make us gods. ~ Sid

I spent a lot of time looking into Calvinism. And at one time was convinced of the truth of 4 points… Limited Atonement being the only point where I dissented. To this day I can sound a lot like a Calvinist, or a 4 point Baptist, but I am neither.
