Posted by Moses I really identified with your description of coming out from under general anesthesia. When I was out for over six hours with my back surgery (it was multi-level lumbar spinal fusion with bone grafts and a bucket of titanium), I had almost no recollection and just felt like I had fallen asleep. Of course the reality sets in when you begin your recovery process. I've had 5 surgeries as an adult, all with general anesthesia. Three of them were foot surgeries. My husband almost killed me on the 3rd one. It was one of those outpatient day surgeries but I had been under general anesthesia for over an hour. When I woke up I had no pain. The dr. had injected a long-acting (12 hr.) anesthestic into the surgical site. We were coming home from downtown Seattle and I said "I want to go to Target and get a present for your friend that is getting married this weekend." He looked at me as if I were out of my mind. He was quite used to me and my logic, however. He took me to Target and I rode around on the electric scooter cart. I was having fun since I would have no weight-bearing on that foot for 3-1/2 weeks. Those crutches get pretty sore after that long! BTW, Greg, did you ever get that problem with your neighbor's dog under control? How is that going?

We've had a really busy weekend and I just popped in here briefly to read (or lurk) and check in on everyone. Hope your feeling better. I got a great kick out of your version of resting (all the chores). And, of course, LOL with your association between the Throne and your current book. ![]()
