I've been put out twice. Once for wisdom teeth and the other for kidney surgery. No problem with the teeth, but the kidney surgery was awful. I've heard about people being put under but remembering everything from the surgery. That happened to me. It's pretty foggy, but I remember all the noises and the smells. I didn't feel any pain though. When I "came to" I woke up to myself gasping for breath and pretty much freaking out, but I didn't really know what I was doing and hadn't made a conscious decision to freak out. I freaked out so much that they actually sedated me again for a couple hours. It was the strangest and scariest feeling I have ever had, yet I couldn't quite figure out why I was so scared. It wasn't until the next day when my head was a little more clear that I remembered the surgery and what I heard and smelled. It was awful!
