If we yelled at him or sprayed water at the fence he became ferocious, attacking the fence so hard we were afraid he might push through the boards. He would also bark at us when we were in our above-ground pool. When the subject of dogs came up on the board, I was inspired to ask for help. Someone suggested ammonia, and someone suggested vinegar water. I decided to try the vinegar water. It worked very well. The first time I squirted it through the fence boards it hit his face and nose directly. Accompanying the squirt was a strong command, "Moshel NO!" He immediately stopped barking, ran to the center of the yard and began wiping his nose with his paw, making curious glances at the fence. It was kind of funny to watch, and I was glad that I hadn't chosen the stronger ammonia-water. It only took a couple more squirts and commands for him to stop barking as soon as he heard my voice. Things were pretty good until this spring. Now he has begun barking again, but I'm not sure at whom or what. Hes not at our fence but he's very loud. Its very annoying. If it keeps up we'll file with the city. There are ordinances against nuisance barking.

BTW, Greg, did you ever get that problem with your neighbor's dog under control? How is that going?
Some may not remember the neighbor dog issue. Our property, being on a cul-de-sac, is triangular, with fairly large side yards, but shallow at the back. The house sits fairly close to our back-yard neighbor. Last summer his dog, an albino German shepherd, kept barking at us through the cedar fence. Every time we went to our back yard he would come and begin barking - not just a few times, but constantly. We tried making friends with him, giving him treats through knot holes, but the barking continued.
