My personal experience: having been out of the workplace for 8years my then partner lost all sense of selfworth and the thought of going out into the world sent him into a state of huge depression. About that time i ran out of patience, found a new apartment n left. He had a job within 2 months. A practical first step for anyone in a jobless situation may be to start contributing by giving -- of his time if nothing else. Read to people in hospital, find a youth program, anything that sparks interest and provides a sense of self as worthy and useful - in whatever capacity. If you love this being and he has the potential to truly partner you, be patient. If tough love is in order, set him up for two months n go your own way. Just my 2c -- please take what works n leave the rest. Courage
