Dear Garry: Enabling is when you do things for a person which prevent them from facing the consequences of their actions. For instance, if your loved one got so drunk that they cant make it to work, and you call the boss and lie for them, you help them continue their self destruction. I think alanon is a great group as far as codependency goes. Jewel
