There are some things you cannot tell or teach people. If you have her trust, however, perhaps you can get her to put in place some rules to ensure personal safety... a small step to living 'clean' that may plant a seed. Having had a short relationship with an alc, I followed the this advice (and it worked): The manipulation technique of an alc needs to be disabled. She may be playing persecutor; rescuer; or connexion/patsy/dummy --or all three -- to his rebel-drinker/apologetic-hungover-victim. She needs to recognise her role and decide if she wants to continue playing it. She sets the standard.
