Posted by double j on 6/13/2006, 7:34 pm, in reply to "Re: codependency issues" unlike a lot of people on the board, i am not codependent in romantic relationships, because i've never had one. im 19 years old and am mildly codependeny with my friends, what few friends i do have. i am very good at giving unwanted advice and bending over backwards to help them out. but i've been turning things around. very slowly, but i decided this summer i want to regain my life back. I reccomend Codependent No More by Melody Beattie, fantastic book on codependency recovery. But what I am trying to grasp is the concept of "Hands Off" I want to tend to my own problems and let everyone else face their own music. it's difficult at first, but it gets easier. today i got a lot of my own stuff done. it's very productive. You have to be willing to sacrifice a portion of your life, where it will be very difficult. It's sort of like kicking an addiction, it's hard at first, but we keep going and it gets easier and easier. Just keep trying. hope this help
