Posted by justme I can never imagine a counselor who would want to see his client once a week. (Maybe if the client were Hannibal Lector). If you are feeling neglected, I would just tell him that. I am sure he can clarify the issue. Counselors are not magicians or shamans, they only facilitate the healing. Most of the work must be done by you. This involves lots of creative soul searching, and can be most unpleasant but healing emotionally. Maybe you are feeling a bit of rejection here based on your own previous experiences. And a history of problems only dating back six years is a very thin slice of the pie graph, most of us are grappling with life long issues and our therapists STILL only see us once a month. I think you need to voice your concerns to your therapist and if he doesn't have satisfactory answers to them, request a different counselor within Catholic Charities, they have many. Good luck to you; I am not suggesting that you are hypersensitive but it is a possibility. Hugs, justme

I think once a month is appropriate if he is giving you assignments and/or readings to do in the meantime. And it would have taken him awhile to figure out what your issues actually were, so the two times in two weeks makes sense in that regard.
