the gods of myth gain power from their worship, not necessarily from belief in comics. The role of the ancient gods of Greece would be seen today, IMHO, as being lifted up for recognition again, although the comics greatly curtail the myths in many ways. I guess religiously, yes the comics could provoke some followers to seek the gods of the comics. But, for the most part, the religious aspect, historically was tied to sexual and somewhat immoral practices in the temple. The fiction of the comics show the folley of trusting in the gods of myth.

: Now, the Gods of Myth exist through belief in
: comics, right? It's even used by WIllingham
: to power his Fables and JMS is using the
: concept to revive the Norse pantheon in
: Thor. Now I'm just curious, shouldn't that
: also ensure they have a working knowledge of
: teh present day world? Like, fit in as well
: as the average believers do? That said,
: their speech and attitudes toward present
: day should not be archaic or outdated.
: Hercules' recent speech patterns and know
: how would tend to reflect that.
:
: Also, does Hercules get a boost from people
: wgo believe he exists even if they don't
: believe he's a God of Myth?
