Okay I have been catching up on Hercules adventures so tell me if I got this right. We have Herc roaming the earth with a teenage sidekick who is either more or different than he seems. Also the kid has a canine companion that is very difficult to kill and more intelligent than it should be.Together they roam the world while Ares plots to kill his half bro whenever possible.Add to that schemes by other gods including Athena and Hades (Pluto)-lets see oh-some of Hercs mythological backstory-and plenty of battles for a demigod.
Sound familiar? well I am actually talking about the mid 70s D.C. book HERCULES UNBOUND.I recently had the pleasure to read all 12 issues and reccomend it to Herc fans. Despite the surface similarities the two series are quite different.Unbound takes place in a possible D.C. future that includes OMAC,and/or Kamandi.Gerry Conway writes the first 6 issues with Garcia/Lopez/Wood art.Issue #7 sees a change-first David Micheline then Cary Bates writing and Walt Simonson/Wood art(issues 11-12 Simonson does all the art and you can really see his developing style that he brought to Thor)I will post a more indepth review on GSB and New Gods board tomorrow but I am interested in knowing how many of you have read it and what you think of it.
