Posted by justin on 10/4/2006, 4:05 am, in reply to "corey hart tour" And it was January 27, 1985 (The Night before the Shuttle Disaster)when Corey last had a major tour in Edmonton for Boy in the Box making it 21 years ago, I was 10 years old when I went to the North Lands Colisseum. So there was no tour here in Edmonton or anywhere 15 years ago which was 1991. And as far as I know Corey did not tour for his BANG and Attitude & Virtue Album which really sucked. He did have a tour for Fields of Fire but was cancelled before he got to Edmonton for the July 16, 1987. Here is the Article that Canoe.ca had when he Created Siena Records, I hope you find this info interesting. Corey Hart starts label By KAREN BLISS -- For JAM! Music Corey Hart and Warner Music Canada have entered into an international licensing agreement for the artist's new label Siena Records. Sire/Warner Bros. will have the first right of refusal in America. Hart, whose songs have been placed on two Celine Dion's albums, 1997's "Let's Talk About Love," and 2002's "A New Day Has Come," will be writing and producing most of the acts he signs. "At least for the beginning," he notes. "It's an opportunity for me to write and produce, and instead of me doing one or two cuts, to be able to have more control over the whole record and be able to shape and guide creatively what I see to benefit an artist that I like." Hart doesn't collaborate in terms of his songwriting so he isn't looking to sign singer-songwriters. "It would be more interpreters, artists that don't write their own material," he says. "I think that in the years to come that I would want to work with someone that I didn't write or produce, but, to me, the whole benefit of (Siena) is not because I want to be a record mogul and sign artists that go on to have success, it's to be able to write and produce. That's what I like doing right now." The Montreal-born Hart, who now lives in Nassau, Bahamas, has put his own recording career on hold (his albums have sold in excess of 11 million copies worldwide) to be an active father to his three girls (his wife, Julie Masse, is expecting again). "How can you do both?" he asks. "How can you take them to school every day, do their homework when they come back from school, take them to their lessons, their birthday parties? Not every dad wants to do that, but I want to do that." Instead, Hart has been selective with his work commitments, choosing to write and produce for other artists, such as Dion, Quebec artist Garou and Lava/Atlantic singer Cherie, whose debut will be released in April. In August of 2000, Hart received a phone call from Seymour Stein, co-founder of Sire Records, and the man who signed such acts as Madonna, Talking Heads, the Pretenders, Depeche Mode, and the Ramones. "I had not heard from him in about eight years," recounts Hart, who was signed to the label in the early '90s for the album "Attitude & Virtue." Apparently, Stein and some colleagues from Warner Bros. were listening to Cherie, for whom Hart has written and produced two songs, and loved his track "My Way Back Home." "He said it kind of clicked in his mind, 'I have to call Corey. I have an idea,'" Hart relays. Stein flew to Nassau to meet with Hart and Siena Records was born. Any signing will be shopped through the Warner system, beginning with Seymour at Sire. Distribution, marketing and promotion will all be handled by Warner Music. "The cornerstone of the deal for me was to afford Siena an international profile," says Hart. "Seymour's role will remain pivotal in this pursuit. My intentions for Siena will always be to sign artists for the world stage." Warner Music Canada president Steve Kane was approached by Stein when the two were in Montreal on company business. Hart happened to be performing with Montreal Symphony Orchestra, in late fall of 2002, at Place Des Arts. "Obviously knowing Corey's track record, and what a great songwriter he is, I thought it was a really intriguing idea," says Kane. "And that he could bring us into the world of some artists that we may not come across in our unusual pursuits." Hart says Warner doesn't necessarily have to approve his signings, but he'd like their support. At this stage, Hart has not yet signed an artist, but "is getting close to finalizing the deal" with a one-named teenager named Paisley from Salt Lake City, Utah. Her piano vocal demo of a song called "My Own" was the only song on a CD Los Angeles-based manager Jeff Haddad (who also represents Cherie) sent him. "She's going to be 16 in June," says Hart. "She has a singer-songwriter voice, which means she's not a Whitney Houston or a Celine Dion, with that great diva-esque (voice). She plays a little guitar and she wants to contribute to songwriting. She wouldn't co-write with me, but actually a few of the songs that I (since) heard, she had written with a couple of other writers. "When I heard her songs, I was really moved by that vocal. It just struck me right away. And I wanted to meet her, so I hooked up with her. She spent some time with me, then I wrote a few songs for her. This process has gone on for a couple of months now." If Paisley becomes the flagship signing for Siena, Warner Music Canada will be the home company and "It looks like Sire/WB would be the U.S home for her," says Hart. He adds that he won't be writing the entire album. "I may produce the whole record, but I would never write the whole record because I think that would be too much but the majority of it I would write." Hart will keep Siena a boutique label, working with only a couple of artists a year. "Probably like to have (a release out) like mid 2004, but there's no time pressures on this," says Kane. "When we launch this, we want to launch this correctly. "What Corey and I have discussed is it has to be something that we mutually see potential in. It's important, in all my conversations with Corey, that unless the whole team's on board, then it's not probably something that we want to pursue." Kane has heard Paisley and confirms she is a "wonderfully talented young lady." While Hart may not want to become a record company mogul, he feels a responsibility to the artists he will sign. "Obviously, I'm very artist friendly because I'm an artist, which is a unique situation. My loyalty will always be with the artist. I'm always going to be aware, after my 20 years I've been in the business, as to what is better for the artist to protect the artist's interest."

He has not toured Edmonton since Nov 25 1998, which was just a promotional concert for Jade. It was held at the Westin Hotel for lucky Journal winnners. Before that he had an offical tour at the winspear on Oct 9, 1997 for his 7th Album Corey Hart. And before that that he came to Edmonton to test the market on Feb 13, 1997 at the U of A. As far as I know he has not toured since 1999, I believe he did a few shows in Quebec and Ontario. But no major tours happened for his Jade Album. Something happened, just don't know what. Since then he has been writing songs for other singers and purchased his own music label 2 years ago called Siena Records.
