Yes, thats why. When snakes do not detect movement via heat of the mammal's body they are eating (warm blodded) there is no reason to constrict something that the snake thinks is already dead. Also if you want see them constrict a mouse you can either breed mice and watch them constrict the live baby mice or you can buy frozen fuzzie mice (when your snake is ready to eat them) and dangle the mouse by the snake's head after it is thawed out. And the snake should strike at it and constrict. Usually when I want to see my adult snakes do this with dead mice I dont feed them for a long time. This is ok because snakes can go without food for a long time. And when you feed a snake after not feeding him for a long time he will think that this may be his last meal for a long time so he will strike it and coil it so it doesn't get away. Also when your snake get as big as mine ( longer than my arm and I am grown) you can knock the mouse close to semi unconcious but enough to where he can move around slightly but not enough to hurt your snake and watch your snake constrict the mouse. I do it every now and then its a very interesting sight if you love seeing snakes be snakes...If you have any more corn snake questions you can email me @ JJDYNOMITEEEE@aol.com and I will answer them all.
