snakes and paint

HI: I just finished making a 10 inch extention for the top of my snakes cage. I made it out of wood and drywall and i want to paint it with a latex paint and would like to know if the paint fumes will harm my new pet albino corn. The paint has no "Volitile Organic Coumpounds". Anybody know????
any help would be greatly appreciated.
