Posted by Max --Previous Message-- Another thing to consider is your approach. Anything approaching from the front and above is considered a threat, so striking is the response. Try a lower, or from the rear slow reach and see if this helps. I have a young corn, ~ 8 months old and he only strikes at me when I approach from the front and above. Corns, in my experience, are the easiest to handle and least likely to bite after they get used to being handled. I've had Kings, hognoses and several type of water snakes but corns are by far the prettiest and most docile of them all.

: If your corn snake is young it is natural
: for
: them to bite, they are frightened and are
: only acting on instinct. They will move out
: of this stage as they get older and you
: handle them more. Never handle your snake
: after feeding, it upsets them and they could
: regurgetate. Also if it is getting ready to
: shed it could be upset and unable to see you
: and its surroundings. Just give him/her some
: time and try to handle it as much as
: possible, even ten minutes a day is enough
: for them to get use to being picked up,
: taken out and jossled around. The snake will
: eventually learn your smell and get to know
: you better and know you don't mean to hurt
: it. Also, don't touch its head, they are
: very head shy, if you are doing this while
: you are handling it, that could be another
: reason why it could be biting. If you have
: any questions just let us know.

: and fun stuff like that so i dont handle him
: that much, mind you, i just got him like
: early january, but i was wondering if maby
: it is just a phase, because i dont handle
: him, if its because he just ate, or if its
: because he's shedding
:
:JUST CHECK IF HIS EYES ARE MURKY IF IT IS
: LEAVE UNTIL IT SHEDS IF YOU FED IT LEAVE
