Sounds like you have an infestation of black snake mites. They can cause lethargy, dehydration and anemia in your snake. The book, The Corn Snake Manual, by Bill Love and Kathy Love gives specific instructions on dealing with this problem. You'll need to remove the mites from your snake and then eradicate the mites from your snake's home. MItes can be removed from the snake by rinsing under a running faucet or rubbing with a damp cloth. Mites in the cage can be killed by putting a small piece of a fresh, yellow "no pest strip" ~ 1" x 2" on top of your snake's home (assuming you have a cage with a screen top)with some newspaper on top to restrict air flow. The water bowl should be removed during this process to eliminate the possibility of the toxin from the strip entering the water in the bowl. Check for live mites after 24 hours. Replace the water bowl and watch your snake for a day or two. This procedure should be repeated weekly for several weeks to be sure all the mites from eggs are killed.
Hope this helps !
