I am not sure if its normal or not but when you feed him or when ya just having your hands around his face or near him always move slowly cause snakes react to movement and if you have the smell of anything on ya hands they consider food be ready for them to bite at you. also you should always wash ya hands before and after feeding your snake so this wont happen and both of you can stay healthy. And when you handle him the touch has to be gentle dont try to move him around through ya fingers just support this body at all times and keep fingers/face away from the snakes face..bottom line more gentle handling
