Last night my snake was trying to shed when he tore his skin off just below his neck-- it was jagged and he tried for a long time to get it started again, but he couldn't seem to. I was going to just let him be but he looked like he was trying so hard for nothing, so I took him out and helped him start it again... well, he ended up shedding right there in my hands!
