I work at a school where a fellow teacher kept a cornsnake as a classroom pet. They treasured Frodo, and then he pulled a Houdini and escaped. The classroom was torn apart looking for him. They gave up hope as the months passed. Then, he was found yesterday, emaciated and dehydradated. The kids and the teacher were thrilled. They placed him back in his tank, and then several hours later, Frodo was dead. The teacher is very concerned about why Frodo was found alive only to die shortly after. He is concerned that he might have done something wrong. I suggested that the stress of being moved and/or handled was the cause. Does anyone have any different ideas, or any words of consolation?
