Im very sorry to hear of your snakes demise. The death of any pet is awful and that is only compounded since he was a school pet and treasured by so many. I hope the school gets another baby corn if they havent already.
As for why he expired after being caught, my thoughts are that he may have just been too far gone. It would be helpful to know.....
- how/where was he found?
- was he alert/active?
- did he drink anything after being found?
: I work at a school where a fellow teacher kept
: a cornsnake as a classroom pet. They
: treasured Frodo, and then he pulled a
: Houdini and escaped. The classroom was torn
: apart looking for him. They gave up hope as
: the months passed. Then, he was found
: yesterday, emaciated and dehydradated. The
: kids and the teacher were thrilled. They
: placed him back in his tank, and then
: several hours later, Frodo was dead. The
: teacher is very concerned about why Frodo
: was found alive only to die shortly after.
: He is concerned that he might have done
: something wrong. I suggested that the
: stress of being moved and/or handled was the
: cause. Does anyone have any different
: ideas, or any words of consolation?
