As I previously wrote:
.
: Right now, the DVD makers don't seem to be very interested in
: releasing quality Tv shows from the 60s and 70s. It's been
: mostly the sitcom fluff and perhaps some ethnic shows. So I
: next expect to see "That Girl", "Family Affair", "The Monkees",
: "Julia", "The Mod Squad", "Gidget", "F-Troop", "Green Acres",
: "Gomer Pyle USMC", "Bewitched", "The Beverly Hillbillies",
: "Peticoat Junction", and "McHale's Navy" out soon. Not that
: I want to see any of those, soon.
.
My most recent visit to the Video retail store revealed
that "F-Troop" and "Gidget" have already been released on DVD.
As well as "Green Acres" and "The Beverly H.s". I'm sure other
from that list will soon follow. But few if any from my
prefered Tv series list. They can only dig up the crappiest
of series, for now.
.
I can confirm that the first half season of "The Time
Tunnel" is indeed on DVDs. Apparently, the 30 episodes of its only
single season was too much to supply all at once. So they broke
them up in half. Plus they added the original movie version
of the Time Tunnel pilot. Which I once had converted from a
Betamax tape to VHS. The difference between it and the Tv
pilot is mainly at the end. They hacked out that part of the
movie (Tony in the desert), and used it in a later episode.
.
It wasn't a great series. Especially when one too many
silver skinned aliens show up. But I think those first 15
episodes represent the best half of its run. If the second 15
never come out, I wouldn't miss most of them. Hopefully,
they'll be priced accordingly (way cheaper).
.
The first season of the "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" Tv
series is out on DVDs as well. But that was their b&w season.
So I say, "what's the point?" It was all cold war, spy intrigue,
in boring black and white. They should have skipped ahead to
the first "In Color" season. The sales of this one should tank.
The only reason to recall it here, is that Gypsy liked
Richard Basehart for some reason. James Darren I could
understand, but Basehart?! His Nelson was just an over the hill
version William Shatner's Kirk.
.
PS, when I walked into Bestbuy some clown asked me if I was
employeed or if I owned my own business? What the heck business
is it of their's?! Is this some new targetted marketting scheme?
I wish I'd told them to get bend, but I was too aghast to
say very much. Next time, I'll ask if they are thinking of
descriminating against me if I say "No"? Or "Why, isn't my
damn money good enough for you guys?"
