I have to keep reminding myself that I loathe Universal Pictures,
for a number of growing reason. The most recent, for me,
is them selling the olde Battlestar Galactica movie/pilot,
on DVDs in mono only format. As if it's just way too much
trouble for them to remix the audio tracks, with the stereo
master of the soundtrack, to at least mimick something
approaching good stereo. I don't expect 5.1 or 6.2 sound.
Or even 3.2 for that matter. Just plain old 2.0 for buying
the DVD version. It's stupid to market any movie on DVD,
in mono 1.1 sound. I can't be sure, but wasn't the 1979 cinema
release in stereo? Or was it just very loud mono, with
the "Earthquake" subsonic track blasting me from behind?
.
Another reason, of course, is Universal b###hing over the
sale price of MST3000:TM, and pulling the DVDs from shelves.
I just saw the "Barb Wire" DVD selling for $6.99 at some
store. I think I write a strongly worded letter to U.P.,
telling them that I don't buy that excuse. And if it is true,
why don't they resume sales of the pulled title? Martin
Scorsese got their tongue (or their balls)?
