Posted by Kenneth Morgan : Now I don't know how "original" As I noted in a DBNS article once, I personally never had much of a problem with the SEs. I thought the new effects shots worked well, and I was really happy to see them add the scene with Luke and Biggs just before the Battle of Yavin. On the other hand, I thought the big problem with the Jabba scene was that it was unnecessary; much of the dialogue just repeated what was said in the Han & Greedo scene. Further, my main problem with the latter scene was that it just didn't look convincing. Beyond that, my only real major disagreement was substituting Hayden Christensen for Sebastian Shaw at the end of ROTJ. Didn't make sense plotwise, in my thinking. Anyway, we'll see. Who knows? Maybe they'll have the Tatooine scenes with Koo Stark as an extra feature.

: the next DVD release of
: SW-4 is going to be. I remember that Jabba
: the Hut was
: originally filmed as a man. But that footage
: wasn't even
: used in that movie. So will the next release
: have no Jabba,
: so it doesn't conflict with Episode 6? Plus
: there are all
: the "unfinished" effects shots,
: which didn't get finished
: until the first DVD release of Episode 4.
: Like the Falcon
: landing on the forest moon, before the final
: battle. In
: the original, we just got to stare at where
: the Falcon would
: have been, if they had put it in. It always
: left me feeling
: a bit empty. Like, "am I missing the
: significance of this shot?"
: .
: Will releasing the original, unedited,
: "Han shoots first"
: version, mean leaving out changes that
: actually help complete
: the movie? But don't alter character or plot
: interpretations.
: I quess we'll have to wait and see.

I understand that it'll be the "original" OT, meaning that, for example, the opening prologue of "Star Wars" will not have the "A New Hope" subtitle (that was added in 1979, just before TESB's release).
