Posted by Kenneth Morgan On the plus side, the segment dealing with the actual creation of the X-Box and the production of the X-Box pilot was pretty interesting. Joel asked a lot of his friends and associates (including his brother Jim, and recognizable comics like David Cross and the Higgins Boys & Gruber) to help out, and all did so out of loyalty to Joel and enthusiasm for the project. And that upbeat spirit is very visible among everyone involved. As for the pilot itself, I just didn't think it was as good as it could've been. It's funny in spots, but it's just too weird in others. That's just my view, though. A few additional points: A few bits from the show would turn up later in Joel's later "TV Wheel" project. The behind-the-scenes segment features a couple of MST3K references, and there are a couple of Gizmonic references in the show proper. And, yes, Joel does sing the theme song. All in all, it's an item worth tracking down, I'd say.
