I've suspected for sometime now that movie studios were paying people to submit positive reviews of their movies, on IMDb.com. Especially the ones that take way to much time and effort to write up. And compare said films to many others, in depth.
Now apparently we're seeing the next step. Posting reviews of things on message boards. Not that this one isn't appropriate for this board's tone. In fact it's rather surprisingly well targetted. But still there are the multiple purchasing links at the end. Even Kenneth and I don't solicit from whom you should purchase a movie we review. That would be tacky. So again, I'm suspicious of the motives here. It's nice to here from a fan of books and movies. Not so nice to have someone posting ads in the form of paid reviews.
I question the ethics of reviewers who make a living this way. Because they pretend to be objective, when they obvious can't be. After all, didn't we just go thru this sort of compromised ethics with the Enron debacle, its accountants, and the stock experts? So how was that so wrong, but all these other compromises, just business as usual? All this "integrety for sale" nonsense is poluting our society more and more. Eventually, nothing and no one will be believed in, anymore.
