Instead of building giant space battleships and such, why don't they just say, "Look, aliens. Leave us alone and I'll make it worth your while. Oh, look, here's the pink slip for a new Rolls. And it even has your name on it! Now how did that get here?"
It'd involve a lot less hassle, I'd say.
