As I understand now.... "Monk" will get an 8th season, which will be the last one they make. Hopefully the messed up US economy won't change this. But if not, I'm prepared for the 7th to be the final one. It ran as many seasons as Columbo did, before that went on a decade long hiatus. Maybe Monk will repeat the pattern, and return with longer, but less frequent, episodes. If he could conquer most of his fears, he'd make a great modern day Sherlock Holmes.
