: All in all, I really can’t recommend “Love
: & Monsters”. For a far better example
: of what the revival series can do, try
: “School Reunion” (with the wonderfulness
: that is Sarah Jane Smith) or “Dalek” (with
: possibly Christopher Eccleston’s best acting
: as the Doctor).
I've not seen any new episodes since Eccleston's Doctor. My local PBS franchise hasn't sprung for any of these, yet. Nor even run a single Dr. Who episode of any season, in over a year. They were about two years late with the 2005 series. Which I guess is about right.
The UK doing a new Doctor after only one season, is a bit much for me. I don't know why they didn't hold onto Chris for another season. Perhaps it was his gig on "Heroes" that conflicted. But we haven't seen him on that since its first season. And he wasn't a major character on it (the invisible hero).
Tennant managed to do the 10th Doctor for four seasons (according to Wikipedia). But made some bluff announcement about leaving in his forth year. Anyway, he won't be doing 2010's season, as originally planned.
So Sarah Jane was in some of the revival episodes? Wow. I've not seen her since my PBS station ran the "K-9 and Company" pilot (once). I've love to see the new series Sladen is involved in. But my PBS channel hasn't sprung for anything new in four years. Yet they keep asking for money, even after dropping all scifi shows. It's all old Britcom reruns, Masterpiece Theater, crime dramas, and old boomers' rock concerts. I guess they feel the scifi fans are either dirt poor, or too cheap to contribute. So why bother?
I've wondered Timelord regeneration limit has been abandoned? Wasn't 12 mentioned as the maximum? And they're already talking about Matt Smith play the 11th Doctor. They haven't got many more generations left to play with. So unless they plan to call it quits in the next decade. They'll have to invent a reason why the good Doctor can manage a higher number of regenerations.
: CONNECTIONS NOTE: Peter Kay (Kennedy) was
: one of the voices in the previously reviewed
: (and much better) “Wallace & Gromit:
: Curse of the Were-Rabbit”.
:
Oh, I'll have to look at the "making of" feature, to see if he's shown in person. Thanks.
