I'm a little suspicious of that "report". It sounds too much like a lot of past BBC Tv misinformation, I've heard before. And the actors' NDAs keep them from saying otherwise. I think Eccleston's Doctor was the next best to Tom Baker's. He certainly put a lot of energy into it. Maybe more than most of the other actors. But I'll admit to being biased, since I haven't seen anything of Tennant's Doctor yet.
I'm a little surprised that they counted Paul McGann's Doctor. He only did it once for that FOX TvMovie. And there's a tendency to segregate one genre's stories from another's. Like Star Wars movies, from the post Ep.6 novels. And Star Trek, from the Animated Series. Like these never happened.
And McGann just wasn't that easy to warm up to, in his one and only story between McCoy and Eccleston (and years apart). But given a longer run, I suppose we'd have grown to love him too. Hmmm. McCoy and McGann. What's up with the run of Mcs as Doctors? :-) Did the Scots take over the BBC?
