From what I've just read on Wikupedia, Chris Barrie may have been replaced with a female hologram character, of another dead J.M.C. officer. If Barrie does appear, then the reason for him being a hologram, is not revealed. And it also appears there will only be three parts of "Back to Earth", for 2009. And no actually series 9. But a series 10, isn't off the table. Apparently the producer doesn't like using "IX" for a series title. But "X" is Ok. God only knows that the heck is going on with this show.
