So, how'd it go?
: The Outside Stuff selection is..."The
: History of MST3K (Pt. II)"
This one is very informative, even for those already familiar with the show's history. It covers a lot of ground, from the move to TFNWSRN to Mike's promotion to host, with all of the cast changes during that period. I'm glad all of the cast participated, and it makes for a very good feature.
: Original Stuff selection is..."The
: Corpse Vanishes" (Show 105).
On the other hand, "The Corpse Vanishes" has Bela, and that's about it. He's a far less commanding figure than usual, overshadowed by his domineering, decaying wife. Add in an unconvincing "romance", a bad print, and a needlessly complicated villainous plot, and the movie doesn't work. The same basic plot was used better in the later "Voodoo Man", which RT worked on very well.
The episode itself was good. The transition to scripted riffs was moving along, and the host segments turned out well, even if they re-used some KTMA ideas. They were getting very close to having the formula perfected.
Pretty good results, I thought. How about you?
Watch out for snakes.
